Bonded Capillary Structures
Filtrona Porous Technologies’ fiber components are made of polymeric fibers that are bonded together through a variety of proprietary processes, creating a capillary structure that is ideal for fluid handling. Materials used include polyester, polyolefins, nylon, cellulosics, acetate, and other fibers, some of which are chemically or high temperature resistant. Our basic capabilities include custom colors, custom 3-dimensional shapes, die-cutting, and roll stock.
Utilizing multiple bonding processes and a range of materials allows us to vary pore size, density, and other properties, controlling the performance of the component. Pore sizes range from 2 microns to greater than 100 microns. To enhance or optimize component performance, fiber structures can be impregnated with active ingredients, such as activated carbon, zeolites, cyclodextrin complexes, pigments, surfactants, reagents, or concentrates.
